Adobe Creative Cloud vs Affinity Suite — breadth against a bill that stops

One is a subscription to a whole studio. The other is a small suite you pay for once. This page compares them fairly, including the readers for whom Affinity is the better choice and ROSH™ Company Labs earns nothing.

What each one actually is — before we talk about price

Adobe Creative Cloud is a subscription. You pay every month or every year, and in return you get more than twenty applications — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Acrobat Pro, Audition and the rest — plus Adobe Fonts, cloud storage, and Firefly generative AI built into the apps. Stop paying and the apps stop opening. Your files stay on your disk; the tools that edit them do not.

Affinity is smaller and works the other way round. Three applications: Affinity Photo for raster work, Affinity Designer for vector, Affinity Publisher for layout. You bought them outright, one version at a time, and they kept working indefinitely. In late 2025 the suite was relaunched as a single free application carrying all three toolsets, and older perpetual licences still open the files you made with them. Terms can change, so check them yourself before you build a plan around them.

What Affinity does not have matters as much as what it does. There is no video editor, no audio editor, no Acrobat equivalent, no stock library, no font service. It is a design suite, not a studio.

Where Creative Cloud wins — and wins decisively

If your work touches video, the comparison is over before it starts. Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition have no Affinity counterpart at all. The same goes for anyone who lives inside Acrobat Pro, or who manages a photo catalogue of tens of thousands of frames in Lightroom.

The second advantage is quieter and costs people more money: file formats. PSD, AI and INDD are the currency of agencies, print shops and client handovers, in Morocco as everywhere else. Affinity can import Photoshop, PDF and IDML files, but a complex layered document with effects, linked assets and styled text rarely arrives untouched. If you are the third person to open a file, you want the application it was made in.

  • Firefly generative AI sits inside the apps — generative fill, remove and extend — with monthly credits included.
  • Adobe Fonts gives you a large licensed library activated across every app, at no extra cost.
  • Cloud libraries keep colours, logos and styles synced across machines and shared with a team.
  • Teaching material is everywhere, and client briefs still name Adobe apps by name.

Where Affinity wins — and where Adobe cannot follow

The strongest argument for Affinity is not a feature. It is that the bill stops. Nothing renews, nothing lapses in a thin month, and no charge lands while you are waiting on a client who pays late. For a freelancer in Morocco with uneven income, that single difference outweighs most feature tables.

The second argument is hardware. Affinity installs small and opens fast, and it stays usable on a five-year-old laptop with 8GB of RAM — the machine a lot of readers are actually working on. The iPad versions are real editors rather than companions, which matters if a tablet is your second machine. Moving between pixel, vector and layout work happens inside one environment instead of three.

For a large share of paid work, the output is indistinguishable. Logos, social graphics, packaging, brochures, retouching, print-ready PDFs — no client has ever asked which application produced the file. The honest limits are elsewhere: a smaller plugin ecosystem, fewer tutorials in Arabic and French, and the occasional file from someone else that will not open cleanly.

What they cost in Morocco — and what it changes

Retail Adobe pricing is the smaller half of the problem. The larger half is that it is billed in foreign currency on a recurring international charge, and plenty of Moroccan readers do not hold a card that will accept one. That is why the question here is rarely whether Adobe is worth it in the abstract.

ROSH™ Company Labs sells a genuine Adobe Creative Cloud licence at 400 MAD for 4 months, ordered over WhatsApp, activated on your own account. Three of those blocks cover a year, so 1 200 MAD. Affinity, at the time of writing, costs nothing recurring at all.

Run that over three years and the gap is thousands of dirhams against roughly zero. If cost were the only variable, Affinity would win and it would not be close. It is not the only variable: when your income depends on opening a client’s file without friction, 400 MAD every four months is small next to one job lost to a broken handover.

One thing to be clear about. ROSH™ Company Labs is not a formally registered company and issues no tax invoices. If your accountant needs a facture, buy from Adobe directly and treat the retail price as the cost of operating properly.

How to choose — a direct recommendation

By reader type, as directly as we can put it.

  • Student, hobbyist, or still learning: Affinity. Install it, learn the craft, spend the money on something else.
  • Solo designer who owns the file from brief to export: Affinity. Logos, social, packaging, brochures — it will not hold you back.
  • Video or motion work: Adobe. There is no argument to make here.
  • Inside an agency pipeline, or delivering PSD, AI or INDD: Adobe. You are buying compatibility, not features.
  • Photographer with a large catalogue: Adobe, for Lightroom’s cataloguing and sync.
  • A business that needs invoices: buy from Adobe directly.

There is also a mixed plan that works well and is rarely written down: run Affinity as your daily suite, and buy a four-month Adobe block only when a project genuinely needs it. Because the block is four months rather than twelve, this is practical rather than theoretical.

And the inconvenient part. A good number of people reading this should install Affinity and pay us nothing. We would rather say that than sell a subscription you do not need, because that second kind of customer never comes back.

Questions people actually ask

Is Affinity really cheaper than Adobe in the long run?

Yes, and not marginally. Adobe Creative Cloud is a recurring cost for as long as you use it. Affinity was a one-time purchase and, since its 2025 relaunch, the current application costs nothing. Over three or four years the difference runs into thousands of dirhams. The fair counterpoint is that Adobe buys you compatibility and a full video suite, which for some people earns the money back quickly.

Can Affinity open Photoshop and Illustrator files?

It can import PSD, PDF and IDML, and simple files come across well. Complex documents are another matter: layer effects, styled text, linked assets and colour setups often shift, and sending the file back to a colleague on Adobe is harder still. If you regularly receive layered files from other people, treat this as a serious limitation rather than a small one.

Can I edit video in Affinity?

No. Affinity is a design suite — raster, vector and layout — with no video or audio application. If your work includes editing, motion graphics or sound, Adobe Creative Cloud is the only one of the two that covers it, through Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition. Some designers run Affinity for graphics and a separate video tool alongside it.

What happens to my work if I stop paying for Adobe?

The applications stop opening and the account drops to a free tier with far less cloud storage, so download anything that exists only in the cloud first. Your files stay on your disk, but editing them needs software that can read the format. Export flattened copies and PDFs before a subscription lapses, not after.

How much does Adobe Creative Cloud cost from ROSH™ Company Labs, and how do I order?

400 MAD for 4 months, for a genuine licence activated on your own Adobe account. Orders close over WhatsApp: you tell us what you need, we confirm, you pay, and the licence is activated. No international card is required and nothing renews by itself — when the four months end, you decide whether to continue.

Is ROSH™ Company Labs an official Adobe or Affinity partner?

No. ROSH™ Company Labs is independent and not affiliated with Adobe, with Affinity, or with any other publisher. What we sell are genuine licences at prices that work in Morocco, ordered over WhatsApp. ROSH™ Company Labs is also not a registered company and issues no tax invoices, which matters if your accounting requires a facture.
