Is cheap genuine software legit? — the honest answer, and how to check

Yes — sometimes. A genuine licence can legitimately cost far less than the price on a vendor’s international site, and that is how a great deal of software is sold in Morocco. But a low price proves nothing on its own, and neither does a seller’s promise. Only one thing settles the question, and it costs you nothing: what the vendor’s own account page says once you are signed in.

If Adobe’s plans page shows an active plan with a date on it, the licence is real. If Microsoft’s subscriptions page lists Microsoft 365, it is real. If nothing appears there, nothing the seller says matters. That test works the same whether you paid a hundred dirham or a thousand, and whether you bought from us or from anybody else.

Every vendor here keeps a page on its own domain showing what you are entitled to. Open it yourself, in your own browser, signed in as you — not on someone else’s screen, and not as a screenshot they send you.

• Adobe — sign in at account.adobe.com and open Plans. A real Creative Cloud licence shows the plan name and the date the term runs to.
• Microsoft — account.microsoft.com, then Services & subscriptions. Microsoft 365 appears there with its expiry date.
• Apple — on the device itself: Settings, your name, then Subscriptions. Apple Music is listed there, or it is not active.
• Google — your Google account under Payments & subscriptions, or the plan page for the product itself.
• Bitdefender — central.bitdefender.com, My Subscriptions, which also shows how many of the five devices are in use.

Do this in the first ten minutes, not next month. Take a screenshot of the page while it is fresh. Then check the thing most buyers skip: whether the email address on that account is yours, and whether you can reset the password without asking anyone. Whoever controls the account email controls the licence.

Software is not priced the way a physical product is. The same subscription carries different prices in different countries and currencies, and vendors also sell on education terms, multi-seat plans, prepaid codes and promotional terms that never sit beside the retail figure. So a licence can be entirely genuine and still cost a fraction of what the vendor’s international page shows. That gap is a pricing decision, not proof of fraud. The rest is overhead: ROSH™ Company Labs is one person, with no office and no payroll.

None of that obliges you to take anything on trust. Before you pay, ask what the plan is called on the vendor’s side, whose email sits on the account, and what happens the day the term ends. A seller who cannot answer those three questions has answered them.

Some warning signs are universal. Walk away from any of these.

• A seller who asks for the password to an account you already own. No legitimate activation needs it.
• A download link, a patch, a modified installer, or an instruction to switch off your antivirus. That is not a licence, whatever it is called.
• “Lifetime” access to something the vendor only sells as a subscription.
• Vagueness about which plan you are on, or about what happens when the term ends.
• Pressure to pay before your questions are answered.

Now the ones that apply to ROSH™ Company Labs, since you would find them out anyway. This is one person, not a registered company. There is no tax invoice, no VAT number and no registration number to attach to an expense claim. There is no refund policy and no warranty — you buy at your own risk. If you are a business that has to book the cost, reclaim tax, satisfy an accountant or survive an audit, buy from the vendor or a registered reseller and pay the higher price. A cheap licence you cannot document costs more than it saves.

1. Ask the three questions first: which plan, whose email sits on the account, and what happens at the end of the term.

3. Open the vendor’s own account page within minutes of activation, and screenshot what it says.
4. Put your own recovery email and two-factor authentication on the account wherever the vendor allows it.
5. Keep the WhatsApp thread. It is the only record either side has.
6. Set a reminder a week before the term ends, since nothing renews by itself.

And keep your work backed up locally, whatever the licence cost and wherever it came from. That is ordinary practice, not suspicion.

If any answer along the way turns evasive, stop. That applies to us as much as to anyone else. The only seller worth paying is the one who tells you the inconvenient parts before the money moves.
